From where I stand

Morning of March 31, 2020

Even with benevolence in my heart
And a wonderfull will for the work
I slice through worm after worm
Displace things from their hard-won lives
Again and again and again.

My purpose is small, great – a pleasure!
The round sky blue and birds
Oh they are all on cue!
Spade, turf, ground, grounded.
Cut, slice, displace, terminate.

An aching back, a joyful smile
From where I stand.
